mingle@soel.

My head is still buzzing from mingling on tuesday evening…

the mingle scene.

Shelby and I, equipped with door prizes for the guests.

Color. I am so glad that everyone brought their shining beauty, and joined in the fun.

We had 2 official photographers working mingle this time, Justin Hackworth and Ashley Thalman. Go take a look at the photos here and here.  They did an outstanding job. Plus, they’re really cool people and fun to hang out with! (The images on this post were shot by them.)

I met so many wonderful people at mingle@soel! Old friends and new. While mingling, I always wish there were three of me, so I could manage the event, play in the photo booth, and visit with the guests all at once! There are so many wonderful people to talk to! i can’t say enough how important it is to connect with other bloggers that have common interests. it’s so refreshing and uplifting.

Most of all, it’s hugely satisfying to see the decorations, food, and sponsors I’ve been working on over the last few weeks come to life. Mingle is one of my happy places. Maybe I will see you there next time…

I am going home with 2 extra suitcases – they are packed with my favorite bread {25 loaves!}, our favorite treat {25 pounds!}, and a few new items for our new home. while i am en route to Boston – we are moving! Husband and the kiddos are the best, I packed most of the house before my trip, and they are boxing up all that’s left + overseeing our move today. when I arrive in Boston, I’ll be driving to our new home. I have butterflies in my stomach for the next chapter of our adventure that lies ahead. I’m excited.

Before I sign-off for the weekend, I wanted to share some fun news. Sam, via Studio on Fire emailed me today, and told me my business card was a winner at the AIGA MN Annual Design Show! They just posted the winner’s website yesterday. congrats to Sam for a great design! woo*hoo!!!

See you all back here on monday – xo.

{utah} blogger meet ‘n greet in video form

friends! how was your weekend? we returned home late last night and have jumped right back into our regular routine here in boston. our kiddos had a great winter vacation in utah – we packed every minute with play dates, our favorite food, and activities. they were sad to leave so i’ve got to keep reminding them in the next few days about what is great about living in boston! homesickness does not look good on little ones.

i’ve been so excited to share with you the highlights, photos, and videos of last weeks {utah} blogger meet ‘n greet. for me, the best part was seeing this event i’d worked on with shelby come together so beautifully. for a long time i’ve wanted an opportunity to gather bloggers + readers of blogs to tighten the unique community that is most often, only virtual.

second, it was so fun to meet some of my readers! i’ve said this before on seejaneblog, but i’ll say it again. i truly appreciate every one of you – those who leave comments + those who stop me in public to introduce yourselves because you read this blog + those of you who silently read — i appreciate you all so much.

we had the best sponsors, and the event was incredible because of each and every one.

KSL Studio 5 which is a morning show in utah was one of those sponsors in attendance at the meet ‘n greet.
just prior to the event, i was interviewed for a segment highlighting my brown kraft paper crafts —

action shot:

if you would like a peek at our event {and doily obsession!} you can click here.

there is now ha utah bloggers site that is up and running! {this will evolve in the near future – it’s a bit raw right now} you can click here to read more about the event + see a slew of pictures!

the meet’n greet was all, in one word…awesome. really. truly. awesome.

utah bloggers has great plans for the future – we can’t wait till the next event! {we’re planning good things for June} if we didn’t see you this past week, we hope to see you next time!

xoxo.

i can’t talk now i’m getting ready for the {utah} blogger meet ‘n greet

i hit the ground running in utah! i am running my kiddos around to play dates + visiting their old schools to crash lunches, recesses,  and surprise their friends!  and, i’m scurrying to put together the best-first-ever-utah-blogger-meet-n-greet!  it’s tonight!  if you haven’t already, check out the new site + grab a button on my sidebar to share the news on your blog!

your wednesday evening plans should include this:

remember: i am giving door prizes to the first 50 guests at 6:30pm! xoxo

brown kraft paper crafts

i finished my last craft projects for the {utah} blogger meet ‘n greet yesterday afternoon and right now our family is en route to utah! in fact, i am posting this from 30,000 feet. wi-fi on airplanes is genius, people. kudos (and kisses!) to whoever figured that out.

all of these projects below are easy do-it-yourself goodies. take a look -

bless my oldest two daughters, they were a huge help this past week in making it possible for me to manage life + conquer my craft-to-do’s! we made {mostly myna’s work} a couple dozen of my yarn-wrapped kraft bags + added these new martha stewart chalkboard labels. i plan on writing names + a lil thank you on those chalkboard labels. what do you think? i’m dying over these labels & can’t wait to use them for more future projects! {look what rita did!}

left above:

for some homemade smaller packaging we cut-out 6 inch x 6 inch squares of brown kraft paper. using a variety of stitches, we sewed little bags together and adorned some of them with doilies. we made all the bags a little different. miss thirteen learned a lot about the different stitches her machine can do with this project, it was great practice.

right above:

i cut-out brown kraft card stock circles, in three sizes and two different shades of paper.  using a 1/8″ hole punch i punched two holes in the middle of all the circles, then threaded those little circles with gold string. ta-da! it was so easy, and such a quick way to make garland!

last, i had these little chalkboards from pottery barn as place cards, i cut off the raffia that was tied on them, and re-attached long white yarn to create name tag necklaces for the sponsors on wednesday evening. if you want to create something similar, i found these on etsy, that would work.

do you plan on coming to the {utah} blogger meet ‘n greet??? check out the new website!

this is a great opportunity to network with other bloggers. if you want to meet the bloggers who’s blogs you read, or if you just want a fun girls night out – please come! from 6:30-8pm we will have incredible giveaways every five minutes + you can buy one item at SOEL for 20% off! there will be delicious refreshments, and drinks.

i hope to see you! xoxo.
