party favor plants

hello my friends. i’m squeezing in an extra post here today to let you know i was featured on studio 5 on KSL in Utah yesterday. if you came to mingle with us in June, or you saw this post about upcycling cans for plants, i discuss these two ideas here on tv.

i really dislike watching and listening to myself speak on tv, i swear i don’t talk out of the side of my mouth like that – but it seems to be what i do and i’m in denial, or what i do when i’m nervous! eegads.}

"good times never seemed so good…"

during kiana’s week at nuvo, after her long, exhausting days of dance…

we would get in our pj’s at bedtime,
and watch episode after episode from season one of glee.

total girl time.

we watched about 16 episodes in three days, and we’re sooo hooked.

it’s KILLING us that the second volume of season one is not available on dvd till…

SEPTEMBER 14th!!!

my favorite glee song so far is this, totally inspired by my husbands red sox obsession. in case you don’t know, the red sox have a song. check it out here. the crowd at fenway {and sometimes at other fields} sings it in the middle of the 8th inning, at every game. how cool is that?

***
and, while kiana was in dance workshops, i would spend a portion of my time reading. i finally – finally – finally finished reading ‘breaking dawn’… it actually feels relieving.

i can finally read something else!

i like the twilight series. i’m not obsessed, but i’m entertained by the hype. my miss twelve finished the series a year+ ago, and i had no idea she was reading vampire sex for 300 pages. geesh. great mom i am! it will be interesting to see how the movie for ‘breaking dawn’ turns out!

my next book is ‘the help’ i can’t wait to dive into it.

what tv shows do you love?
what books are you reading???

sweet escape.

it’s true. each and every time i go to california, i spend a portion of my time daydreaming about living there. i just can’t help but fall a little more in love. there’s just so much to treasure.

the beautiful weather. the kind drivers on the freeway. the charming buildings. the beaches. the shops. ohhh, the shops. the food. the warm people. our relatives in laguna. ocean, the girl, and the body of water. trees with flower blossoms. disney. museums. art. everywhere there is art! artist. talented artist of every kind.

all the things that made twelve days there oh-so-wonderful but also crazy. busy.

kiana and i left two days before her nationals for dance started which gave us time to play before she had to become serious about dancing.

we literally got off the plane running to get a taxi so we could check in to our hotel and get another taxi immediately to the CBS studios {i guess FOX uses the CBS studios?} to see…

this!

alli hooked us up with excellent-VIP seats. we were seated immediately above the judges in the center of the front row! how awesome is that?!?

at will call our tickets said, “kiana rhodes +1″

ha! i love being “+1″ to my bearzy!

the show was awesome. behind the scenes is so fun. the comedian-master of ceremonies who runs everything with the audience was hilarious. there was an in-studio audience dance-off on stage in between recordings for the show. so funny. cat deeley is gorgeous. the judges are genuine. i just love that kiana got to see what the show is all about from a real perspective. such a great experience. natasha beddingfield performed live, like, ten feet in front of us! so awesome!!! for lack of a better word.

thank you, again, alli. we adore you!

once we were on the CBS studios property, they had us check in our cell phones and cameras. i felt so technology-naked! so, the two pictures above are the only ones we have from our amazing evening.

allison holker

kiana is in the midst of preparing for dance nationals in july with nuvo.

this year, kiana was able to work with allison holker on three dances. kiana’s solo, her duo, and a 4-O…all choreographed by alli in the past six weeks!!! we love alli’s dance style.

if you do not know who allison holker is…

she is a local girl to utah county.
she is an adorable momma to her two year old daughter, weslie.
she is an A-MAZ-ING dancer.
she was a finalist on the 2nd-season of ‘so you think you can dance,’

and, out of 150 dancers that have been on ‘so you think you can dance’ so far,

she is returning to L.A. to dance/film the upcoming 7th ‘all-STAR’ season!

pictures below: kiana/alli working on her solo; isabel/alli/kiana working on their duo…

the 7th season begins May 27th! just two weeks from today! be sure to tune in & cheer for alli, we love her!

“Though the exact format for the show has not been ironed out, all-stars from previous seasons of So You Think You Can Dance will be returning as partners for Season 7′s Top Ten dancers, much like on Dancing With the Stars. This will enable the show to vote out one competitor each week, instead of two, and may result in fairer match-ups, as no dancer will run the risk of being brought down by an untalented or unpopular partner.

Those all-stars include: Twitch, Kathryn, Allison, Anya, Pasha, Lauren, Neil, Dominic, Comfort, Courtney, Mark, and Ade.”

good luck allison, big hugs & we hope to see you in l.a.!!!

there are just NOT enough hours in a day.

anyone else feeling like this lately?!?

i think i am going to pull an all-nighter, sometimes as a momma, it just hast to be done, to get it all done. know what i mean?

this week:
i finished the sixth season of “sex & the city” oh yeah boy. i started season one back in january. i watch 1, 2, or 3 episodes during my daily work-outs. it’s perfect because each episode is only 20-28 minutes. so, sometimes two episodes pulls me right through 45 minutes of hard-core cardio. i love it. i love carrie. charlotte. miranda. and samantha. i’m totally a fan of steve, harry, smith, and of course mr. big. the season finale in season six, part two, was fantastic. this weekend, i will make the time to watch the movie…

i even watched one of the “post-season” commentaries. they were saying that everyone who watches the show thinks they are carrie. so funny. i don’t think i am. as much as i love her witty character, her love of fashion and shoes. i think i would have to say i have way more charlotte in me. who do you think you are???

Right this minute: besides blogging, i am looking at a pile of toys in sela’s room that i need to sort through and price for the yard sale. yeah, if you’re waiting for our yard sale…don’t hold your breathe. it will happen. sometime this summer… but, just to throw out a couple of tips for anyone else cleaning out their closets, and homes. sometimes i take my gently-used baby and kids items to “kid-to-kid” who buys them from you and re-sells them. And, i like to take my gently-used jewelery, bags, clothing, etc. to “Plato’s closet,” and they buy it from you and re-sell them. Just passing this along in case you haven’t already heard about it…we have also had fantastic luck lately selling items on ksl. it seems to be the hottest market around right now.

on another note: i think i would enjoy being catholic. just for confessions. really. here’s mine of the week… i was soooo good last week for five days. no sugar. then mother nature was on her way and emotionally i fell apart over the weekend, specifically sunday. seriously, you could have buried my chocolate ten feet under ground and i would have found it. in fact, i think i only ate chocolate on sunday. maybe 100 cadbury mini eggs. hmmmm, maybe some red vines too, now that i’m really thinking about it. confessing, i want to visit the inside of an actual confessions booth/box/not sure of the correct terminology. one day…

luckily, because i caved, i am not a failure. neither are any of you. sometimes, that’s how it works. you re-group, and conquer again. you focus on the good, remember???

for me, monday came, and we are going strong again. woo-hoo!!! and, while grocery shopping this week i found new CRYSTAL LIGHT FREEZE POPS!!! i tried the cherry-pomegranate today, and it was so yummy! {weird – i can’t find a picture on google to show you.} if you are a local shopper, i found them at smith’s in two boxes with two different flavors. i can’t wait to try the rest, this might be my numero uno summer treat!

and, a new favorite drink for me lately - Vault ZERO. it’s made by coca-cola, tastes exactly like sprite. it comes in regular vault, but vault zero has no sugar, and has had caffeine added. what i need most of the time :) i really like it!

signing off to get going with my to-do list… have a happy wednesday!

Grey’s Anatomy

I had never even seen 5 minutes of a show…so,

I purchased Season 1 before we left for the Philippines, to take on the trip…

I didn’t watch it till one of our flights on the way home, then I watched all of the season one 9 episodes in less than 6 hours…
ummm, i love it.
totally hooked.

Then we got home, I had to purchase season 2…now I have an excellent daily dose of about 42 minutes Grey’s Anatomy while I work-out! I definitely need the work-outs!

Lets see, between July 4 – July 27th, I have managed to gain 10 pounds. yes, 10. CRAZY. Lets say, I love filipino food.

And, Dusty found this awesome Brandi Carlile music video, featuring Grey’s Anatomy…
