the art of… family

this past weekend, i took a whole lotta sidewalk chalk + all of my kids outside to our driveway. we spent all afternoon out there, and not only created some chalk masterpieces, but created some fun memories.

to see more pictures from our activity {more sidewalk chalk art!}, and to read my thoughts on “the art of… family” head over to the twig creative blog. and then, buy one of their wooden treasures, because they are the absolute cutest toys ever! true statement.

dear friends, thank you dearly for all your texts, emails, fb/twitter/instagram messages yesterday and this morning in wake of the boston explosions. our family went to the red sox game at fenway in lieu of the marathon yesterday and we were back home in the suburbs before any danger took place. it is a hostile world that our children are inheriting. yet, there is tremendous good in the world too, lets keep that in mind as we all pray for better days.

in passing of yesterdays events, my friend katie shares her thoughts about beantown. her words are very touching, a coincidence that our family is planning a picnic on a boston lawn this afternoon.

xo.

see jane’s blog roll

since i arrived home from Alt. summit in January i have been making my way through the business cards i collected from all the incredible people i met. since doing so, i decided 2013 would be a good year to add a blog roll to seejaneblog that includes many of my well-loved favorite bloggers {mostly friends} and some of the new virtual connections.  while i am post-surgery resting, working on a few other upcoming events and projects, and spring cleaning… this will give you time {months actually!} to peruse these blogs. also, i am currently updating my google reader {did you know google reader retires on July 1st?  any recommendations on what to do???}, please share your favorite blogs in the comment section below if they are not included on my list!

a hip handmade holiday

happy monday friends! today, i am sharing with you a gold-mine of holiday crafting goodness. were you a seejaneblog reader back when i made the capiz-shell inspired chandelier??? my friend susan peterson and i hosted the craft night for that at my home in utah, and finished somewhere in the hours of 2 or 3am… anyway, that same gal + another crafty friend of mine Alison have partnered with another crafty friends husband {are you following me?} and put together the bomb of all holiday books!

a hip handmade holiday, by the craft pack! clever. these gals are so clever. i have been watching behind the scenes for the past six months while this was being created, and some of us have been waiting to find out all the details of their secret projects! — we can all see it now! for only $10.00 you can buy the online book, and flip through those pages for all your holiday needs.

mingle@soel.

My head is still buzzing from mingling on tuesday evening…

the mingle scene.

Shelby and I, equipped with door prizes for the guests.

Color. I am so glad that everyone brought their shining beauty, and joined in the fun.

We had 2 official photographers working mingle this time, Justin Hackworth and Ashley Thalman. Go take a look at the photos here and here.  They did an outstanding job. Plus, they’re really cool people and fun to hang out with! (The images on this post were shot by them.)

I met so many wonderful people at mingle@soel! Old friends and new. While mingling, I always wish there were three of me, so I could manage the event, play in the photo booth, and visit with the guests all at once! There are so many wonderful people to talk to! i can’t say enough how important it is to connect with other bloggers that have common interests. it’s so refreshing and uplifting.

Most of all, it’s hugely satisfying to see the decorations, food, and sponsors I’ve been working on over the last few weeks come to life. Mingle is one of my happy places. Maybe I will see you there next time…

I am going home with 2 extra suitcases – they are packed with my favorite bread {25 loaves!}, our favorite treat {25 pounds!}, and a few new items for our new home. while i am en route to Boston – we are moving! Husband and the kiddos are the best, I packed most of the house before my trip, and they are boxing up all that’s left + overseeing our move today. when I arrive in Boston, I’ll be driving to our new home. I have butterflies in my stomach for the next chapter of our adventure that lies ahead. I’m excited.

Before I sign-off for the weekend, I wanted to share some fun news. Sam, via Studio on Fire emailed me today, and told me my business card was a winner at the AIGA MN Annual Design Show! They just posted the winner’s website yesterday. congrats to Sam for a great design! woo*hoo!!!

See you all back here on monday – xo.

introducing: pink moss!

this post is a little late today. my husband and I are without email and with that challenge, we are going a little crazy. if you have emailed me {or him} for anything in the past 48 hours, please be patient – i may not be able to respond till early NEXT WEEK! i am so sorry.

in other news, i’m excited to share with you today – a new sponsor for seejaneblog! Janae Moss and i have been in touch briefly over the years, but as she tells you here, we’ve never had time to really connect. i’m excited to have her be a part of seejaneblog & hope you will give her a warm welcome! Janae is also helping with our upcoming event on June 26th 6-8pm.  If you joined us last time – it’s going to be even better this time!  we hope to see you!

Pink Moss: Noun, Verb

A basic social unit, consisting of parents and their children – including six daughters, and one adopted son.  Highly active, sometimes haphazard, fun loving, and always looking for the humor and beauty in a crazy world.  Enjoying such things as – parties, clothes, dancing together, jewelry, service projects, and Justin Beiber.

Mother and author of Pink Moss: Janae

Lover of music, water skiing, reading, outdoors, a perfect sandwich, hiking, photography, writing, anything creative, running, and playing with her family.

Pink Moss is the story of our family.

We started out with girl, after girl, after girl, after girl, after girl, after girl…But after saying a silent prayer, we were blessed unexpectedly with a son.

The story, is really quite unbelievable. My three year old daughter spoke of him coming into her room at night, before we ever knew he would be coming into our life a few years later.

(sounded a bit creepy, until we saw him)

and then we fell in love.

As you can see, he fits right into our family of girls.

And, it was meant to be.

Some people think we are crazy for having so many kids, and maybe we are – but we really quite enjoy it.  Jane and I are two ladies that move in the same circles.  We are both busy running our littles here and there, around town.  I have seen her at dance competitions, at our daughter’s school, and Jane has hosted my Whitney at some of her great parties.   Jane is even best friends with some of my  friends, but I believe we are both so busy – we never had much time to speak.

That’s how motherhood is.  We are busy giving everything we have to those we love, and sometimes our friendships are an “extra” that we have to work really hard at.

Like many others that read Jane’s blog, I stumbled on a link from our mutual friend, Sara.  She is my friend, and neighbor.  I couldn’t believe it when I realized it was the same Jane I had seen around town!  So I began to read, and read, of her many talents.

How excited I was to realize that she had space on her blog for advertisements!  I had never advertised my blog before, and I couldn’t think of a better place to try it out.

Over at Pink Moss, my blog,  I write about all sorts of things. I am kind of a Seinfield blogger,

a lot about nothing – and everything at the same time.

Sometimes it’s funny

sometimes serious

other times random

or reflective

or even a little too personal

You never know what you will get and

*neither do I*

So, when you are needing something to do, take a hop – skip – and a jump over to my neck of the woods.  We would love to have you!

Nice to meet you.

Janae
